Another Outlet for My Creative Urges

Because my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has also affected my ability to play my guitar and my clarinet and because our grand-daughter has just started at sixth form college studying Music and Music Technology, I am dabbling in computer generated music.

I am composing/arranging using a program called Harmony Assistant and mixing the resulting tracks using the Digital Audio Workstation called REAPER. It’s a steep learning curve but I’m getting there. Currently I’m arranging some of J.S.Bach’s works as jazz pieces. This was inspired by the amazing playing of the Jacques Loussier Trio.

I’ve posted a couple of early attempts on my Soundcloud account for you to listen to.

New Outlet for my Creative Urges

As pottery is becoming increasingly difficult due to carpel tunnel syndrome I’ve been looking around for some creative activity to take its place and I came across a free 3D computer graphics program called Blender.

If I can’t throw real pots I should be able to create virtual ones to satisfy my creative urges and perhaps complete some even more ambitious projects. I’ll post my creations here as soon as I can produce some stuff worth looking at.

Riva del Garda nestles between Monte Rocchetta and Monte Brione on the northern shore of Lake Garda with wonderful views down the lake and glimpses of the Dolomites to the north.

Ann Is Learning Italian

I’ve been learning Italian for a number of years now and I can manage to make myself understood pretty well. I’ve just managed to convince Ann that she should learn a bit of Italian too so she has just started the Transparent Language complete Italian course.

Italian Holidays

We’ve just booked our Italian holidays for this year.

Two weeks in Riva del Garda on Lake Garda and two weeks in Meina on Lake Maggiore. We have never been to Meina before (or Lake Maggiore as a matter of fact) and we have not been able to find out much about it on the net. So if you have ever been to Meina perhaps you can leave us a comment about the area.

The picture shows an early morning view from our room at Hotel Centrale in Piazza III Novembre, Riva del Garda. We always stay here when we are in the area.

Pot Shop closes

We have retired from full-time pottery production and teaching and so we have closed our on-line ‘Pot Shop’. However I’m sure we will be potting from time to time to keep our hands in. We will probably sell the results at craft fairs etc.

We will still be available through our Contact Us page to answer any questions you may have and we will also be including our popular Pottery Hints and Tips pages on this new website.
